The satellite dish - DSS-43, located in Australia is about to undergo a critical upgrade, as it remains the only antenna on Earth that can send commands to our interstellar traveller which is currently located over 17 billion kilometres (roughly 11 billion miles) from Earth.

This process will take about 11 months and our long distance friend has to wander through the interstellar space all by itself for that duration! However, the silence is just one way, we will still receive communication to Canberra Deep Space Communication Complex (CDSCC), we just won't respond back. 📸 NASA
